A Reminder You Might Not Know You Needed: You are making a difference every day

A drink coaster with the words "difference maker' and the definition 'a dedicated individual who makes a big impact even with just a small action or a few words
If no one’s told you lately, let me: You matter. You are a difference maker.

One Sunday, I took a long walk with my spouse and we talked about how we give so much of ourselves—at home, at work, and in our community. We talked about how, wherever we show up, we care deeply and serve the best we can. And how sometimes, with all that's going on in the world, all that effort feels like it’s disappearing into a void.

As we walked and talked, I saw something unexpected just off the trail. It looked like a glass drink coaster. I picked it up and held it in the light. Etched into the surface were two simple words: Difference Maker.

Even though it seemed unlikely anyone would need a drink coaster on a walking trail, we looked around for someone who might have dropped it. But the trail was empty. There was no explanation for that message to be resting in the dirt, waiting. And yet, there it was. Our hearts swelled.

It felt like a quiet kind of tender mercy—a reminder that value lives in presence. In intention. In how we listen, how we love, how we stay true, even as times grow less certain. What we do matters. Each moment we give of ourselves makes a difference. Even if we can't see how just yet.
