Lessons in Courage and Leadership

Each week for the Intermediate Accounting III course I teach, I invite a speaker. This month, we heard from Seema Grover and Adrian Elegado (Directors and leadership Advisors at The Siegfried Group). It was an incredible session filled with wisdom and inspiration.

Ms. Grover shared her remarkable journey, which included immigrating from India, navigating college in Canada, and becoming a CPA. One thing that resonated deeply with me was her reminder in how to overcome FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real.

A quote stating Fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real.
F.E.A.R False Evidence Appearing Real

She taught us that the more time we spend pushing through fear in areas we want to improve, the more we can grow. It requires a shift in perspective from fear-based decision-making to recognizing the potential gains from new experiences, but I'm committed to having more courage and looking at new experiences as opportunties to grow.
